The Webbed Suit is a suit players may equip in Marvel's Spider-Man, the PlayStation 4 video game. It is a free suit provided as part of the 1.13 update for the game.
The suit is based upon the Spider-Man suit from the film trilogy directed by Sam Raimi, in which Peter Parker is portrayed by Tobey Maguire.
Characteristics
The suit's overall design is based primarily on the Classic Suit, but with several modifications. The red portions of the suit are lined with silver webbing. Also, the red spider symbol on the back of the suit is that of a realistic spider rather than a stylized circular symbol as on the Classic Suit and the other variants based off of it.
Behind the scenes
Despite high fan demand for the suit from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, it was not included in the game's original release, nor the following DLC updates, The City That Never Sleeps. Having expected it to appear in a DLC installment, many fans began to tweet Insomniac Games asking about the suit. In response to one fan on Twitter, Insomniac said "Listening doesn’t mean we always will do what people tell us to. We hear you. Hearing doesn’t mean we always act or follow."[1]
Following this, and the revelation that the final The City That Never Sleeps installment "Silver Lining" did not include the suit, fans of the trilogy began to further harass the developers.[2][3][4] This led Community Director James Stevenson to respond on Twitter, stating that "Passion is not an excuse for harassment", and that paying for the game "does not entitle you to be a jerk".[5]
