Marvel's Spider-Man Wiki

The Vintage Comic Book Suit is a suit players can unlock at level 41 in Marvel's Spider-Man. It costs 4 Backpack Tokens, 4 Challenge Tokens, and 4 Crime Tokens.

Characteristics[]

Appearance[]

This suit is identical to the Classic Suit, albeit with two very distinct changes. First, and most obvious, is the cel-shaded effect applied to the suit model, meant to invoke the aesthetics of the original Spider-Man comic books, specifically from his first appearance in the 1960's. Second, and much less notable, is the lack of web shooters on the wrists.

As the cel-shaded effect turns the frames around the lenses solid black, it can at times provide the illusion that the entire lens is changing shape to express emotions, while in reality it is simply the same shutter-style effect as most other suits in the game.

Suit power[]

The suit comes with the Quips signature power. This ability offers no combat advantage aside from staggering enemies slightly when activated, though it allows players to listen to Spider-Man's sarcastic quips as he fights enemies.

Original appearance[]

The Vintage Comic Book Suit is based on the iconic original costume worn by Spider-Man throughout his comic book history, but specifically as it was drawn by Steve Ditko during the character's first ever appearances in the 1960's - most notably in Amazing Fantasy 15, where it interestingly featured a blue spider emblem on the back before being changed to red shortly after that.
