Show Me New York is the third main mission Marvel's Spider-Man 2, originating in Little Odessa. Peter Parker is looking for new work after getting fired from his teaching job. On advice from Miles Morales, Peter begins working with Robbie Robertson, who is looking for photos that capture the spirit of New York City.
Story[]
Peter receives a call from Miles, who extends his condolences for Peter getting fired. Miles gives him advice on an open photo call at the New York Bulletin. Peter recognizes that Robbie Robertson, a former colleague at the Daily Bugle, is the owner of the paper. Knowing what kind of photos Robbie would like, Peter departs to take some photos. Peter spots two civilians throwing a frisbee on top of adjacent rooftops and snaps a photo, which is immediately sent to Robbie. Robbie gracefully accepts the photo and expresses a warm welcome to Peter. As he is about to duck into a meeting, Robbie instructs Peter to send any subsequent photos capturing the essence of New York to him.
After taking a few photos for Robbie, Peter remarks that his suit is full of sand from his encounter with Flint Marko and he needs to change into a new one. Peter heads to a tall building where he keeps a duffle bag with another suit. After changing suits, Peter receives a call from MJ, who plans to meet him back at his house to deliver something for him. Peter heads home to meet her, choosing to withhold the news that he has been fired, for now.
Walkthrough[]
When the mission begins, Spider-Man will have leveled up, also gaining 1 Skill Point. These Skill Points can be used to unlock an upgrade on any of the three Skill Trees: Peter's, Miles's, and their shared Skill Tree. Note that after purchasing a specific upgrade, subsequent upgrades in the same path will become available to purchase with Skill Points. However, some upgrades require 2 Skill Points instead of 1, and some upgrades are locked behind story progression.
With the player now having access to the map, follow the waypoint to the objective, indicated by (). Periodically, a crime may appear on the map, which are not part of the main missions or side missions, but they reward XP and Tech Parts. Each crime also has an additional bonus objective that is optional, but can be completed for additional XP.
After arriving at the waypoint, the player is prompted to swipe up on the TouchPad to open the in-game camera, and pressing R1 to take the photo. In order to properly use the camera, the particular subject has to be in range, which is signified by the green reticle. If the reticle is red, the subject is either not in focus, too close/far, or is being obstructed by an object.
Once the photo has been taken and submitted to Robbie, the map opens up, showing the current district and a meter called "District Progress". Completing objectives in that district will fill up the meter, which has 3 tiers of rewards: the first tier awards Rare Tech Parts, the second tier grants the player the ability to Fast Travel to that district anytime, and the third tier awards Hero Tokens and completes that district, which is necessary for 100% progress. As of now, some objectives to increase that district's meter, such as Marko's Memories, Photo Ops, and FNSM app requests are visible, but most objectives will be locked behind story progression.
Additionally, Photo Ops will be unlocked, which is a side activity that allows the player to take photos of various activities and landmarks around New York City to submit to Robbie. Each district on the map will have a select amount of Photo Ops. As Photo Ops are completed, the player is awarded City Tokens, progression of the district, and a piece of dialogue from Robbie about that specific photo.
Marko's Memories will also be available starting from the preceding story mission, and Peter and Miles can both complete them depending on who the player is currently controlling. They can be completed for XP, City Tokens, progression of the district, and progression of Marko's side quest.
After completing some activities, the player is prompted to head to a waypoint that leads to a tutorial on the Suits tab, which instructs the player on how to spend resources to craft new suits, as well as their alternative styles. In this tab, the player can freely change what suit Peter and Miles are wearing, as well as change into an alternate style for most suits. Note that in some parts of the story, this feature may be locked for a specific character for narrative reasons.
