History[]
Marvel's Spider-Man[]
In "Internet Famous", a Screwball fan reached out to Spider-Man about a livestream. Though Spider-Man was uninterested in pariticipating, he was forced to when she claimed to have taken a hostage. After Spider-Man completed the various tasks, he was ambushed at the supposed location of the hostage by Screwball's fans. Though Screwball was placed under arrest, she pleaded that her followers were the ones that acted, not her.[1]
The City That Never Sleeps[]
Screwball contacted Spider-Man again and goaded him into more challenges, all while still livestreaming Spider-Man's feats for her new show. After reaching millions of followers, in "Wrap Party", she threw a rooftop party for them to celebrate. With the help of Miles Morales, Spider-Man tracked her down. After a pursuit over the rooftops of Manhattan, Spider-Man finally caught her and put her in prison.[2]
Characteristics[]
Screwball wears a white jumpsuit with a white biker helmet, both of with are adorned with fuchsia stripes and her logo, and opaque golden sunglasses. According to J. Jonah Jameson, she has purple hair.[3]
Screwball is heavily narcissistic and aloof. She has no remorse or care for the fact that her actions endanger lives in New York City, and shows delight in her fans as they wreak havoc.[4] This shows both callousness on her part, and also cowardice, as she does not act herself. Spider-Man notes that Screwball's only motivation is gaining followers, suggesting pure self-absorption blinding her from reality of her actions. Screwball makes heavy use of internet slang in person.[5]
Aside from directing her followers, Screwball shows extremely strong gymnastics skills, allowing her to free run across the city's rooftops without losing momentum, to the point where even Spider-Man initially has some difficulty keeping up with her.[2]
Original appearance[]
Screwball first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #559 (July 2008).
