Screwball is a minor antagonist in Marvel's Spider-Man and its story DLC The City That Never Sleeps. A mentally unstable Internet personality, Screwball uses Spider-Man and criminals to get more hits on her web channel.

History

Early history

Much of Screwball's true identity, as well as her early history, is unknown. At some point, she became an Internet personality, gathering a substantial following.

Marvel's Spider-Man

Screwball was first encournter in the Internet Famous side mission, lying to Spider-Man about having a hostage, and ordered him to complete various city-threatening missions. After completing the tasks, while also dealing with Screwball's "followers", Spider-Man discovered it was a trick. Spider-Man defeats more of her followers, and arrests her. Before being taken in, Screwball states that she could not be held responsible as it was her followers that did the damage, to which the police admit that she has a point.

The City That Never Sleeps

Having gotten out of jail, Screwball contacts Spider-Man again and goads him into doing more challenges.

Screwball challenges Spider-Man to complete her challenges for her constant livestream. While completing her challenges, Spider-Man must use a photobomb to appease Screwball's fans, such as throwing a bomb at a billboard and webbing up prisoners, so that Screwball's OMGs will be filled. Once the challenges were done, Spider-Man asks Miles Morales to look for a the party Screwball was hosting, leading to him finding the location. Suddenly a box was broken and Screwball entices her viewers for her chase, Spider-Man goes after her and eventually catches her, leading to her being arrested again.

Characteristics

Appearance

Screwball is always seen wearing a white jumpsuit with a white biker helmet, both of with are adorned with fuschia stripes and her logo. She wears opaque golden sunglasses. According to J. Jonah Jameson, she has purple hair.

Personality

Screwball is a narcissistic and mentally unstable woman who only cares only about getting as many followers and hits as possible. As such, she has no qualms about using Spider-Man or endangering civilians just to increase her popularity. Screwball has a tendency to speak in Internet slang, using terms such as "LOL" and "TTYL".

Powers and Abilities

  • Superhuman speed and agility: Screwball can run and move at great superhuman speeds, and is highly agile and acrobatic. She was able to free run across multiple buildings without losing momentum, and she was able to run fast enough that even Spider-Man initially had trouble keeping up with her.
  • Enhanced jump: Screwball also has incredible jumping skills, capable of jumping several hundred meters with a single bound, and is easily capable of jumping and leaping from one building over a street to the next.​​​​​​
