Roxxon, also known as Roxxon Energy, is an antagonistic organization appearing in Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It is an American energy corporation with presence throughout New York City, ran by Simon Krieger. It has its own security force armed with advanced weaponry and armor, named Roxxon Security.

History[]

Before Miles Morales[]

While little is known about Roxxon's history, it is stated that Roxxon was founded in 1932 and has a history of shady practices, such as relocating to wherever taxes were cheapest. By the late 2010s, Simon Krieger became Roxxon's Head of Research and Development, and appointed Rick Mason as one of the lead engineers.

During that time, Rick was tasked to lead a project aimed at developing a new type of safe and clean energy known as Nuform. However, as development continued, Mason would suffer various side effects from Nuform, leading him to realize that the new energy was not at all safe or viable for large scale implementation in New York. Krieger was uncaring of the detrimental effects Nuform would have on civilians or Roxxon employees and ordered the side-effects of Nuform covered up through bribery, falsified reports, and blatant lies. Rick and his younger sister Phin would eventually break into the Nuform lab in an attempt to shut down the newly finished reactor, but Krieger discovered them and had Rick trapped in an energy field surrounding the reactor and set it to overload, killing Mason as he tried to manually shut down the reactor. Rick's death was officially declared an accident, and the Nuform project continued on schedule.

Throughout Marvel's Spider-Man, Roxxon's name is visible every gas station, and their headquarters could be found in the Financial District. Shortly after the rising of the Inner Demons and the riots caused by Martin Li's corruption of Empire State University students during the Halloween Party, ESU student Phillip Chang (whose assistance proved invaluable in helping Spider-Man find and restrain all the corrupted students) joined Roxxon as an intern and would often post about his excitement regarding Roxxon's latest projects.

Miles Morales[]

Roxxon was one of the two villainous factions of the game, alongside their enemies The Underground. After the Nuform explosion on the bridge, Roxxon blames Spider-man and attempt to capture him. This is partially to coverup the dangers of Nuform, but mostly because Krieger wants to study Miles and replicate his bio-electric powers to use as a new energy source. The conflict escalates into a full on gang war between The Underground and Roxxon Security with Harlem caught in the middle, culminating in the Roxxon Plaza explosion.

Upon Krieger being exposed and arrested for his crimes, Roxxon's reputation plummets, to the point where a woman attempted to get her neighbor evicted upon learning he worked at Roxxon. However, the company itself endured, cutting off Krieger and cooperating with authorities by releasing all his incriminating information as a way of cutting the thread off at him. Their plan is to lay low for a while until the heat dies down before resuming new business. However, Roxxon Security has other plans, going so far as to attempt to break Krieger out of prison and cutting ties with Roxxon, leaving the corporation helpless to invaders.

Characteristics[]

Roxxon guards

All Roxxon guards wear red and beige pants and red armor, and have guns, shields, sticks, and snipers. Some Roxxon guards possess equipment to nullify Spider-Man's Venom abilities, or infrared goggles to detect him in camouflage.

The guards are completely loyal to Simon Krieger and do not show any remorse for the crimes they commit, like harassing people or threatening to kill them in public. They even went so far as attempting to break Krieger out of prison.

Gameplay[]

Roxxon have multiple hideouts throughout New York, including three hidden labs with Nuform reactors.
