David Obademi is one of the original character in Marvel's Spider-Man, and not from previous comics.

History[]

Early history[]

David Obademi was an ambitious math teacher in a village. He remained popular among his students even after the rebel uprising caused many to leave the village. When several men attacked Obademi's school, Obademi was saved by Silver Sable, who took out the group saving Obademi and his students. Thereafter, Obademi worked for Sable.[1]

Obademi was deployed to New York City during events of Marvel's Spider-Man, but resigned while remaining in New York. Because he had come to New York on a work visa, and it became invalid after he resigned, Obademi was undocumented, and intended to leave after securing supplies.[1]

The City That Never Sleeps[]

David Obademi operated supplying shipping to the Symkarian Embassy in Chinatown. In "Humanitarian Aid", after being attacked by Hammerhead goons who stole most of his supplies, he was saved by Spider-Man. Spider-Man offered to help if he found anymore supplies.[2]

Spider-Man later learned that the Olympus Hideouts, where Hammerhead held Project Olympus weaponry, were also where the supplies were being kept. While retrieving supplies from each of the hideouts, Obademi told Spider-Man more about his past as well as his current immigration status. Inspired by his story, Spider-Man reached out to Mary Jane Watson, who was able to use her connections with schools to get David Obademi an H1-B visa for teaching at one of New York's schools.[1]

When Spider-Man retrieved all the aid for Obademi, in "Aiding a Human", the Hammerhead goons attacked him once again. After Spider-Man and Obademi defeated the goons, Obademi revealed that he had been offered a job and a visa at Midtown, telling Spider-Man he could not thank him enough. Spider-Man responded in kind that it was Obademi he should be thanking, for reminding him why he loves New York.[3]
