Crimes, also known as street crimes and faction crimes, are citywide activities in Marvel's Spider-Man, available to players after they have completed the mission Keeping the Peace. These are marked on the map with a red exclamation point inside a red and black triangle. () Crimes are not part of the main missions or side missions, but do earn players Crime Tokens when completed and are required for district completion. Each crime in the base game involves taking down one of four different enemy types: street thugs, members of the Inner Demons, escaped Ryker's and Raft inmates, and Sable International mercenaries.
These crimes become available after completing the Keeping the Peace mission. Thug Crimes can turn into a hostage situation which will fail if the victim is not saved. They are also the subject of some Just the Facts episodes—namely the episodes "Breaking In" (prompted by failing a Break-In crime), "A Loop" (prompted by failing to capture the suspects in a Drug Deal crime), and "Blame the Internet" (prompted by failing to stop the car in a Stolen Vehicle crime). In all of these episodes, J. Jonah Jameson will berate Spider-Man for his failures.
These crimes are split up in groups of three, as certain crimes become available by progressing through the story. Demon Ambush, Demon Armored Car, and Demon Shootout are unlocked upon completing the Financial Shock mission. Demon Bomb Threat, Demon Hostages, and Demon Truck Bomb are unlocked upon completing the And the Award Goes to... mission. Checkpoint Assault, Demon v Sable Roof, and Demons vs Sable are available upon completing the Dual Purpose mission. Upon completing the Out of the Frying Pan... mission, the Demon Crimes will require the defeat of all Sable agents involved.
These crimes become available after completing The Trouble with Arson mission in "The Heist" DLC, and involve crimes committed by Maggia operatives. Maggia Crimes have no bonus objectives.
