Charles Standish is a minor character in Marvel's Spider-Man. The Chief Financial Officer for Oscorp, Standish worked closely with Norman Osborn, and kept financial records for Devil's Breath. As a result, he became a target by the Inner Demons.
History[]
Standish held records on Devil's Breath, without knowing any details on it other than the money that Osborn had poured into it.[2]
In "Up the Water Spout...", the Inner Demons infiltrated Standish' home and took him hostage, trying to identify the scientist working on Devil's Breath. Spider-Man rescued him, though the Demons had already identified the scientist as Isaac Delaney, who Standish was unfamiliar with.[2] Sable International then arrived to take him to safety, with the goal of keeping him quiet.[3]
In "Uninvited", Mary Jane Watson infiltrated Sable's camp in Central Park where Standish was being held to ask him for more information. Standish was only able to reveal a vague plot by the Demons at Grand Central Terminal that they were talking about, before Spider-Man, believing Mary Jane was in danger, interrupted to evacuate her. The confusion caused Standish to accidentally trip and get knocked unconscious.[1]
Characteristics[]
Standish is a middle-aged Caucasian man of average build. He has dark brown hair which he keeps in a bun, hazel eyes, round-rimmed glasses, and a beard with flecks of gray. Standish's personality is not thoroughly explored in the course of the game. However, it is clear that the life-threatening situations he has been placed through have taken a toll on him, making him jumpy and somewhat paranoid.[1] Standish was also known for his art collection.[2]
Original appearance[]
Charles Standish's first appearance was in Avengers Vol. 3 #0 (August 1999).
