The Anti-Venom Suit is one of the primary suits used by Peter Parker in Marvel's Spider-Man 2. This is one of the few free suits in the game that is granted via mission progression. It permanently replaces Peter's Venom symbiote-related powers, including Symbiote Surge ability.

History[]

A combination of the remaining Venom fragments in Peter's body and Mister Negative's unique power. Following the joint effort by both Miles Morales and Martin Li, this new suit gives Spider-Man a way to take on symbiotes permanently, and he would even wield it against Venom himself, doing significant damage to the alien several times before finally purging all traces of the symbiote from Harry Osborn.

After the main story, Peter presumably keeps this suit, using its powers to fight against normal criminals.

Characteristics[]

Appearance and Capabilities[]

The Anti-Venom symbiote, given its shapeshifting ability, will vary in terms of the host. In Peter's case, it is a white Spider-Man suit with a black spider emblem, effectively being an inverted color scheme from the Black Suit and Symbiote Suit. Its appearance is also much more in line with the two Advanced Suits, especially in regards to the spider emblems.

The eye lenses are sharp and wide, with a much more distinctly triangular shape, and retain the expressive movement to mimic Peter's expressions.

As it was created from fragments of the Venom symbiote still remaining in Peter's body, the Anti-Venom Suit retains much of the original powers of the Black Suit and Symbiote Suit:

  • Shapeshifting: Like Venom, Anti-Venom is capable of morphing its body; into; whatever the host desires. In Peter's case, is a Spider-Man styled suit and can; even form gliding wings beneath his arms; when he needs them. It can even turn itself; into tentacles, much like Venom. It's also likely able to generate webbing from itself as well.
  • Regeneration: Following the fight with Venom, Anti-Venom had been damaged; but sometime later, the suit was restored. This is likely; due to the fact that; the suit is able to regenerate itself after sometime. It's possible the suit also; allows for the regeneration of those it is bonded to; but this remains inconclusive.
  • Host Enhancement: Like Venom, the Anti-Venom symbiote can also enhance the wearer's physical abilities. This enables Spider-Man to attack criminals and; even symbiotes; with far greater physical strength. It also likely enables him to sense Venom; with his spider-sense. It also enhances his speed; such as; when he is gliding in the air; allowing him to practically fly.

The Anti-Venom Suit also features new abilities that aid in combating Venom and his symbiote army;

  • External Symbiote Rejection: Anti-Venom is able to protect its host from being taken over by other symbiotes; even Venom. This was seen when Venom himself was able to bind Spider-Man and attempt to infect him with a symbiote, only for the Anti-Venom suit to resist and break free from the infection.
  • Sound Immunity: Unlike most other symbiotes, who are vulnerable to the effects of sound, Anti-Venom is immune to the effects of the species' weakness.
  • Caustic Touch: Originating from Mister Negative's power, Anti-Venom has the ability to generate powerful bursts of energy capable of severely damaging other symbiotes and; even purging them from their hosts' bodies. This ability was vital in the destruction of Venom himself.

As a symbiote suit, the suit uses tentacles for the Spider-Dash and Spider-Jump moves. After the "Set Things Right" story mission, it permanently replaces the Symbiote Suit as the Symbiote Surge transformation and Peter's symbiote abilities are altered to be white; with the additional property of dealing extra damage to symbiote enemies. His webbing remains the usual white coloration.

As of the March 7, 2024 update, after completing the main story, the player can change the color of the Anti-Venom tendrils, choosing between the usual white, Venom's black or having it automatically change based on the story.

Suit Styles[]

  • Color 1: The default color scheme.
  • Color 2: The suit is a bluish black with white highlights, resembling Agent Venom.
  • Color 3: Resembles Carnage.
  • Color 4: Resembles Venom, with hints of Agent Venom.

Original Appearances[]

While Marvel's Spider-Man 2 marks the first time Peter Parker has donned the Anti-Venom symbiote, the symbiote itself debuted in Amazing Spider-Man #569 in August, 2008. The original Anti-Venom symbiote was born from Martin Li's attempt to cure Eddie Brock's cancer. In the process, Li accidentally infused the remnants of the Venom symbiote within Eddie's body with his powers, which then combined with Eddie's white blood cells to form the Anti-Venom symbiote.

A new Anti-Venom suit was later created at the Life Foundation in Amazing Spider-Man/Venom: Venom Inc. Alpha in December 2017. A conflict between Eddie Brock and Flash Thompson resulted in the Venom symbiote being split in half. Spider-Man's intervention resulted in a large vat of acid being overturned on Flash Thompson's half of the symbiote, turning Thompson into Agent Anti-Venom.
